Bone Expander Kit - SS
Product Description:
A bone expander kit typically consists of various instruments designed to gently expand the bone during dental implant procedures. These kits may include:
-
Bone Expanders: These are conical or cylindrical-shaped instruments with varying diameters and lengths. They feature a tapered design to gradually widen the bone socket.
-
Drills: Precision drills are often included to prepare the bone for the bone expanders. These drills are designed to create initial osteotomies (holes) in the bone to accommodate the expanders.
-
Stopper Pins or Depth Gauges: These are used to control the depth of the osteotomy and ensure precise expansion without damaging surrounding structures.
-
Handle and Driver: A handle is provided to hold and manipulate the bone expanders during the procedure. A driver may also be included to aid in the insertion and rotation of the expanders.
-
Sterilization Container: Most kits come with a sterilization container to maintain the cleanliness and sterility of the instruments between uses.
Use:
Bone expander kits are primarily used in dental implantology procedures where the available bone volume is limited. Here's a general overview of their use:
-
Preparation: The surgical site is prepared, and local anesthesia is administered to the patient. The area is then exposed to reveal the bone.
-
Osteotomy: Using the provided drills, the dentist creates initial holes in the bone at the planned implant sites. These holes are carefully sized to match the diameter of the selected bone expanders.
-
Expansion: The bone expanders are sequentially inserted into the osteotomies and rotated gently to gradually widen the bone. The expansion process compresses the bone, creating space for the implant and promoting bone density.
-
Depth Control: Stopper pins or depth gauges are used to ensure that the expansion does not exceed the desired depth and to prevent damage to adjacent structures.
-
Implant Placement: Once the bone has been adequately expanded, the implants can be placed into the prepared sites. The expanded bone provides a stable foundation for the implants, improving their long-term success rate.
-
Closure: After implant placement, the surgical site is closed, and post-operative care instructions are provided to the patient.
